Sanctuary Cove at Woods Pond - Discover the lake lifestyle.

Sanctuary Cove History - Continued

.....Because each family or party has the exclusive use of these cabins, for living purposes, they provide the privacy of a summer house without the details of housekeeping, as all meals are taken in the central dining camp.

While the cabins that survive at Sanctuary Cove are not log cabins, but rather timber framed cabins, the above excerpts captures their essence, and most likely the spirit of what Mrs. Pike sought to achieve.

Lotta Pike managed the property for 50 years, even after she sold the camp in 1947 to P. William Wigginton. In 1961, the Wigginton's sold the property to Mary Ann and Michael Herman of New York City, who operated a Main Folk Dance Camp on the property. After Michael Herman's death in 1997, the camp was sold to Manasseh Inc., which operated a childrens summer camp at the property until recently.
